Exhibition “Through Repin′s places”

This year we celebrate the 170^th anniversary of the birth of our great countryman, world-renowned artist Ilya Repin. And 70 years ago in August 1944, when the war was still going, released Chuguev as the whole country was celebrating its centenary.

In summer of the same year, the famous Kharkov artists I. Daits, S. Besedin, G. Bondarenko, A. Dovgal, V. Mironenko, E. Svetlichny, G. Kosmachev visited Chuguev where they sketched Repin′s places under the guidance of S. Prokhorov, I. E Repin′s disciple, Honored Artist of the USSR, professor of the Kharkov Art Institute. The album of prints "At home of I.E Repin" was produced based on the work performed to the centenary of I.E Repin. It is stored in our museum. The album has 13 graphic works, which show Repin′s places in Chuguev: the houses where the artist was born and lived, the streets of the town, view of the topographers building, steep banks of the Seversky Donets River. In the works the artists created a poetic image of I.E Repin′s motherland warmed by true lyrical sense.
